Week 1 Review:
The first main weekend of college football is in the books, and here’s what happened. On Thursday, Colorado struggled in a home game against North Dakota State, only winning because NDSU’s hail mary was 4 yards short. Fast forward to noon on Saturday, when Georgia played Clemson in Atlanta. Clemson kept it close in the first half, but Georgia pulled away in the second with a flurry of points, finishing the game 35-3. The biggest upset of the day came in the form of Vanderbilt’s victory against Virginia Tech, where Vanderbilt defeated them in overtime on the back of an incredible performance by Diego Pavia. After a long lightning delay, Penn State dominated against West Virginia, winning 34-12. At 3:30, Miami vs Florida kicked off and Cam Ward put on a show, dominating the statline with 385 yards and 3 touchdowns. The showcase game of the day was Notre Dame vs Texas A&M and was a defensive struggle with Notre Dame grinding out the win in the fourth quarter. On Sunday, it was Miller Time as USC QB Miller Moss showed out in a win against LSU with 378 yards and a touchdown. On Monday night, Florida State fell victim to Boston College as they stormed to a double-digit win. This loss by Florida State made the record of teams suing the ACC to be 0-3 so far.
